Resumo/Outros | Objective: This study aimed to assess the bond strength of different dentin bonding systems (DBS) to enamel previously eroded by orange juice. The tested null hypotheses were: 1- There is no difference on bond strength to not eroded (control) or eroded enamel; 2- There is no difference on bond strength according to each DBS. Methods: Forty eight bovine enamel blocks were prepared (4x4x2mm) and randomly assigned into 3 groups- C- not eroded; ERO1- 1minute immersion 3x/day in orange juice during 24 hours and ERO5- 1minute immersion 3x/day in orange juice during 5 days. All these groups were stored overnight in artificial saliva until complete 24 hours. Following, each group were subdivided according to DBS (Scothbond Multi purpose -MP, Single Bond 2 -SB or Clearfil SE Bond - CF) and restored with Filtek Z250. Specimens of approximately 1mm2 were obtained from each block to be tested under microtensile bond strength (load 50N at 0.5mm/min). Data were statistically analyzed by two-way ANOVA and Bonferroni tests (Ą= 0.05). Results: Bond strength and standard deviations in MPa for MP, SB and CF respectively were: C- 19.09(5.41)/ 23.92(3.68)/ 20.02(4.80), ERO1- 22.35(5.75)/ 20.54(8.89)/ 17.71 (4.38) and ERO5- 14.68(5.17)/ 15.94(3.71)/ 16.96(5.89). Erosion condition was a significant factor. In ERO5 condition, SB showed lower bond strength compared to control. Also, in ERO5 protocol, MP showed reduced value compared to ERO1. Dentin Bonding systems did not influence the bond strength. Conclusion: Erosion with orange juice, for 5 days, reduced the bond strength to enamel. However, the type of dentin bonding system was not able to influence it |
