| Resumo | A correta gestão dos resíduos sólidos é um dos maiores desafios na questão ambiental urbana no final deste século. Se os resíduos sempre foram um incômodo, com o crescimento das cidades e suas populações em explosões demográficas, têm atualmenteassumido contornos alarmantes. Com o objetivo de demonstrar que as deficiências nos instrumentos de gestão dos resíduos sólidos urbanos podem acarretar impactos ambientais, utilizou-se o Município de Maringá, no Estado do Paraná como estudo decaso. São constatados os impactos ambientais no Município e analisadas as suas causas, verificando-se quais as falhas havidas na gestão dos resíduos sólidos urbanos e nos instrumentos disponíveis no Município. É discutido o emprego de algunsinstrumentos de gestão ausentes para mitigar ou impedir a ocorrência destes impactos. |

| Resumo/Outros | The correct administration of solid wastes is one of the greaters challenges in urban environmental question in the end of this century. If the wastes were ever an inconvenient, with the growth of the cities and its populations in demographic explosions, have assumed actually alarming boundaries. With the objective of to demonstrate what the deficiencies in administration instruments of urban solid waste may bring on environmental assessment, it was used Maringá City, in Paraná State as case study. Were verified the environmental assessments in the city and analyzed its causes, verifying what the faults have had in the administration of urban solid wastes and in the available instruments in the city. It is discusses the employ of any instruments of administration absent for to mitigate or to impede the occurrence of this assessments. |
